RDC Budaka has appealed to all stakeholders to embrace the IRS program..

Mr.Magunda George RDC Budaka has called upon all stakeholders to support the Indoor Residual Spraying(IRS)program following the rampant cases of malaria in the communities.The call was made this afternoon during the district leader’s review and sensitization meeting on IRS held at Wilter Travellers Inn.He added that government needs its people alive henceforth investing a lot of resources in the activity. He further urged the Hon.councilors to be ambassadors of the program for success.He also advised them to report cases of resistance from communities to enable him deal with them.While giving his remarks,Mr.Mulwani the DHO Budaka informed members that IRS was proven to be the most effective mechanism to curb malaria amidst sleeping under a mosquito net.According to Moko Richard the IRS focal person,he informed members that the actual spraying of houses will commence on 27th February to 27th March 2023.He informed members that they were to begin conducting sensitization meetings with the religious leaders,District Task Force and  in the LLG’s.Mr.Kimbugwe Isaac the medical Clinical Officer who represented the focal person for malaria acknowledged that out of every 10 persons tested for malaria in the facilities, 08 turn positive.He advised communities to always seek medical attention when they experience signs like Shaking chills,fever,flu,Nausea and vomiting among others.He added that early detection of malaria within 24 hours and early treatment will avoid reoccurance of the disease.“Untreated malaria causes anemia in children and adults,miscarriages,premature births,intra-uterine growth  excetra among pregnant mothers.While presenting malaria statistics to members,Mr.Kizito Agwaro the Biostatisticain encouraged participants to embrace IRS inorder to reduce the trend of malaria burden in communities.Namugwere Victoria the Senior Health Educator informed members that they will be intergrating a number of activities into the IRS program for better uptake.She also encouraged the participants to be ambassordors of the activity inorder to address issues of myth,misconception and resistance in the communities that hinder the success of the program.The Officer from IRS called for teamwork from all stakeholders for the safety of the children and pregnant mothers for reduced mortality rates in the district.He encouraged the Hon.councilors to be leaders of the sensitization teams in their respective areas of jurisdiction.He further asked them to sort out issues of antimalarials in the district by reaching out to other implementing partners.Mr.Nkusa Davud the Assistant supplies officer Budaka informed members that one of the implementing parteners in the names of Baylor will be delivering antimalarials to the district anytime awaiting NMS.Hon.Councilors assured the officials from IRS about their willingness to support the program until the end.They also appreciated government for such an activity in the district intended to save lives of the people in Budaka.
