The Engineering Department is set to start the road works for this FY2024/2025 following the recently completed works for the previous Financial Year.While addressing members during the District Roads Committee meeting, Mr. Pajje Emmanuel, the Chairperson District Roads Committee informed the meeting that the road works of Mailo Tanu-Mugiti –Kabwangasi road ,suni-Lyama –Budaka  road,Kaderuna-Kebula-Kabuna,Namengo-Nabiketo-Naboa and Uganda Clays-Nyanza-Jami road for FY2024/2025 under the maintenance Grant from MOWT are to be handled anytime soon.He emphasized on the issue of availability of resources to be used to kick start the road works.In relation to the field inspection of Buwemba road in Budaka Town Council, the committee recommended on the following action areas; the Senior Environment Officer to plant paspalum at the site, communities to regulate sand mining and rice growing along the road reserves and the District Engineer The Chairperson also made mention of some pending roads in the subcounties of Kameruka and Kaderuna that still need to be worked on.Hon.Kasolo advised members to make a by-law on the sand mining activity inorder to enable Budaka Town Council generate revenue from sand miners.Hon. Mboizi also advised the Engineering department to always conduct sensitization meetings of communities on issues of road reserves before the actual implementation of work.He further asked the team to take into consideration the issue of quarterly DRC meetings.
